Should I buy the 1974 Ford Galaxie 500 or the 2000 Buick LeSabre Custom?
I am a 21 year old girl and this will be my first car.
I really want an oldie car that is in good condition, and the Ford seems to be it.
They want $1,400 for it, and it's got 52,000 miles. It's been so well taken car of that it still has its original paint job and is only just beginning to show a hint of rust on the very bottom, which I could just grind off and paint over fresh.
Then there's the 2000 Buick LeSabre, which has HORRIBLE miles on it(183,000), really nasty rust in a couple spots that has eaten all the way through(and it's in places that I can't just cut off and replace myself) it's got computer problems(coupld windows don't work, dashbord light supposedly lying about things needing to be fixed{or maybe it's the seller})...he wants 1900$ for it, which seems too high to me...but it does drive really well and has good safety features....
THEN AGAIN, the Ford might as well be a hummer with how safe I'd be in it...
I really want the Ford, my heart tells me to go for the Ford, but I don't know if maybe older cars don't last as many miles as newer cars or what. The Ford is in better condition, looks cooler, is simpler so I could learn to work on it myself I'd hope, and it's actually in my price range ($1500 and under)
what do you think? The only thing is I can't find a whole lot of information on this specific model online. Can anyone tell me what they would do? Has anyone had a 73 or 74 Galaxie and tell me what it was like? Problems to look out for with old cars? Or with Lesabres? Thanks so much for reading, and I hope someone can help me figure this out
