Should I buy an iPhone 3GS?

I've recently procured a new job and I have a nice breathing room to get a much better cell then I have now, I currently have a Motorola Krazr from USCellular, I do at the moment have a iPod Touch and I love it!!! So the idea of getting an iPhone and basically making my Touch into a phone makes me all excited, but there are a lot of bad reviews out there for AT&T and that kind of scares me. A close friend of mine of 8 years says she rather enjoys AT&T's service, she currently has an iPhone 3G and loves it, So I would love everyone's opinion on this, oh also buying apps, I already have procured many good apps on my iPod and if I got an iPhone I would have many of the hot apps I paid for already for free, because you can redownload apps after you've bought them, if I got a different smart phone with apps and wanted an app I had on my touch, I would more then likely have to pay for it again.... and the idea of all the good apps for free that I've already got on my touch sounds much more appealing, Thanks for anyone's response.
