I've been using a PC for my entire life (except for the old iMacs in my elementary school), I now go to High School. I am in Grade 10 at the moment, I frequently edit photos and graphics in Photoshop CS3, I make videos and get really pissed when my computer Lags out on me or freezes up because I lose loads of work is I haven't saved recently. Some of the photos I edit are very large (32 bit TIFF) and although I don't currently use an HD Video camera my friend does and I sometimes edit video for him. Also I have a budget of around 1 grand. 20" screen is perfect for me. I have several networked Hard disks for larger files (program installations, Movies, Larger Photo Files.) so i don't need a massive Hard disk. Please tell me if I should get a mac and configure a system for me (I'm new to Mac so I don't know how much power they need to complete tasks)
I have a PC, upgraded the RAM already and all my slots are full (2 GB) yet my system is dreadfully slow with video. I don't mean HD I mean regular SD Video in a program like Roxio Videowave, I can't even get premiere open without it crashing on me.
Pentium 4 3.2 GHZ
2 GB PC-4200 RAM
250 GB HD
ATI 256 MB Discrete Graphics

try this.. why get a Mac? you will be tied to Mac for everything..
Repairs
Accessories
Software, everything about the Mac is over rated. Over priced. you will have no free choice but to pay the Mac price for everything...

Your pc is more powerful than the mac is.. you can do more with your PC if only you learned how to use it.

Do some research into what you can actually accomplish with a PC... using the right operating system and software.. and that is NOT WINDOWS...
It is using Linux..
check out the web links below they won't cost you a arm and a leg... either

Hello.

iMacs, are working computers, they are really, really good, but most software comes out for windows. I see you want to edit photos, but macs are very expensive to. If i would only design and edit photos iw ould by a mac. If i would like gaming, and a little bit of everything, i would buy a PC.

I hoped i helped

With your budget I suggest you do NOT buy an Imac

For $1000 you can get a dualore PC with 2.4 lightning speed MHz, 2 gigsRam. 250 gig HD, a burner and CD and a host of other hardware and software that would do a great job for you in your graphic work.

Log in to www.tigerdirect for ther best price and specs for your money. Then go to your local dealer and ask him if he can match that deal.. He will say yes if he wants tour business. That's what I did.
