Should i buy a used hybrid honda civic with over 180,000 miles on it?
The car is a 2003 USED Honda Civic Hybrid
It has a little over 190,000 miles on it
The car was a single-owner trade in at a reputable dealer (Honda of Kenosha, WI)
The price on autotrader.com is 4,760
I have researched a lot about the car and can't find much information about what happens after 180,000 miles. I want to know if this would be a good or bad buy. I need a reliable car because I live in Wisconsin and go to school in Minnesota so when I drive home for holidays it is about 235 miles. I also work about 30 miles from where I live, so the car pretty much cannot break down.
Any suggestions?
I have only driven Hondas and I know they are reliable but i don't want to spend 4,600 dollars on a car that is just going to need a 3,000 dollar replacement in 2 months. Unfortunately i have to be hasty because i go back to school on January 10th and i need a car. i totaled my 2003 honda pilot last week (over 180,000 miles, still worked great) and only have a certain amount of money to spend because of what i got from insurance.
i did not settle too easily with insurance. according to kelley blue book my pilot was worth 4500 at best. we got a LOT more than we should have from insurance.
we have a very good family friend who is a mechanic who will be looking at whatever car i decide on during the 3-day period we get to take it back (which i think is a law in wisconsin or something) and if he doesn't think it's up to par then we'll take it back.
i don't want people telling me i did something wrong or there is a better way of going about this... i just want to know if there is any information out there or personal experience as to whether or not this would be a good or a bad buy.
