Hybrid for $200/month? The 2004 Golf GLS is in great shape, currently owned by an acquaintance, and I can pay for it all (no payments!). The Civic Hybrid is more environmental, very affordable payments, brand new, and leasing means no huge repair costs.

Buy the used one mate, not the best time to get into debt even if you are financially secure and the debt is small.

About the gas issue recent studies have shown that the best way to improve your mileage lies in your driving style... don't drive angry lol

Hope it helps

Neither. VWs are lousy cars. Honda's are not much better. Leasing is just plain stupid. Paying all that money and end up with nothing at the end. Just how does that make sense to anyone?

But the VW. You can pay for it all at once. And you know the seller (and hopefully something about the car).

No matter how big the next repair cost on VW, it will be much less than buying a new car.

Don't bet on that. Lease has a lot of hidden problems. Lease is a long term RENTAL. And if you change your mind, you cannot get out of it. Just read all the people HERE trying to get out of their lease!

There are 4 most important maintenance items in your engine and tranny (the most expensive parts of the car).

(1) engine oil (3k - 5K miles)
(2) tranny oil (30K miles)
(3) coolant (3 years)
(4) timing belt (60K miles)

Just keep those maintenance and your engine and tranny will be problem free. I have old car with 187K miles and the engine + tranny + suspension runs like new. I get 41 MPG (doing 72 MPH). I can get even better MPG doing 55.

Good maintenance pays off.

Good luck...
