I am a 20 year old college student. Im selling my 1995 convertible firebird because the camshaft bearings are going bad (among other things) and I was told Id need an engine rebuild. Im looking to buy something reliable next to get me through college and beyond. My sister swears by honda, she had a 93 accord that just wouldnt die, but I have been reading at "carcomplaints.com" that hondas have alot of transmission problems! I would also be interested in a toyota celica. I was wondering if some people who have owned either of these cars could tell me if and when (mileage wise) they started to have costly repairs. (Please include the year, model, and mileage on your car so I can get a better idea)

I've never heard of these tranny problems, and I've been working with hondas for years.

As for the two, I like speed and want something fast, so my choices would be, either the AWD turbo celice made in the early 90's or get one if the civic hatch si. Both are good reliable cars. Both get good MPG, plus they're both manual. Which manuals are faster and get better gas mileage. Tend to not have as many problems as older autos.

I agree with Wizz -
Both are good cars but Honda is the best in my books.
Hey I had a Honda civic from 97-2006 traded in for a 2007 CRV - got $6,000 for the civic trade in... that works in my books
Yes, I have heard of transmission problems with the Honda's.
I have heard of many transmissions problems with MANY cars - Doesn't matter the car - just GET THE WARRANTY!
