I am in need of a car and my uncle's neighbor is selling a Avalon for 1,200 dollars the only thing is that it has 200,000 miles on it.It also has a leak from the power steering and needs a tune-up. What are some problems that I could run into and would you buy this car?

"needs a tune up" is a pretty vague description which could mean anything from needs new plug wires to a new head gasket or transmission.

$1200 is cheap but this car has issues that need to be addressed before making the deal. I wouldn't worry about the miles, I'd worry about the condition of this car. Have you priced a power steering pump assembly for this car?

That's a great price for a reliable car. I'm guessing it's 95 or so.

Fix the leak and it should last at least another 100k miles!
