Should i Buy a Sprint HTC Hero with Google?

ok so 4 months ago i bought a palm pre. reviews are great... commercials look good. looks like an awesome choice. iv since then gone threw 4 pre replacements and wasted hundreds of dollars. im fed up with my broken pre and dont want a 5th. i want to go with the htc hero. but my question is what are your personal opinions. from people who have actually owned and opporated them for a good time. are they worth paying for? are they really glitchy and slow? is it durable or cheap? i would like any comments. Things you like. Things you don't. What it can do. A random fact about it i don't care. just fill me in with what you know. is the 512mb enough for a decent amount of apps?. your comments are very much appreciated as i don't want to waste more money. and if you really dont like it. pleeaaseee tell me so i know what im buying
