Should I buy a road bike or get slicks for my mountain bike?

Right now, I'm riding a Schwinn road bike that I bought from Target. I have a Fuji Odessa 1.0 mountain bike and I'm thinking about retiring my Schwinn and putting slicks on my Fuji. I was also thinking about buying a road bike, but I'm trying to stay within my budget. Even though I'm riding my bike everyday to work, I still have a car payment.

Any advice is appreciated.

I got slicks for my hardtail mountain bike and i ride 7-10 miles a day with ease.

get a vintage looking bike they're really pretty and you can get one at target meijers or walmart for under 100 $

It all depends on how far you want to ride. Less than fifteen miles is fine on a mountain bike with slicks. Anything more than that and you might want to look into road bikes. Plus, you'll be able to go much faster. You might also want to look at hybrid tires. They'll work for both occasions (short distance road and mountain).
