Should I buy a Panasonic HD camcorder?

I had a sony camcorder for a year but lcd screen broke in 3 times i used it. I bought like 2 8GB memory card, can I use it with hd camera? Will the video look normal on non HD tv? SHould I buy it on ebay? Will it last long because sony only lasted 1year when i only used once 3 months?
