Should I buy a Honda Civic (1996) with 166,000 miles on it?
It looks really nice and has custom rims.
I'm only 16 so it would be a good beginner car right?
I've heard that a Honda or Toyota will last a very long time and its okay to have this many miles on it.

Yes this would be a great car for any beginner driver.Just be sure to look the car over very close. I advise to pay someone to check it out before you buy unless you or anyone you know has the knowledge about used cars.Be careful because sometimes people will throw a set of"pretty" wheels on a car just to sell if it has other problems.Ask about maint. records or has the timing belt been done.Inspect the tire condition!Hondas are great quality cars but if someone has never maintained it you could be buying somebody elses problems!!!! Hondas and Toyota are the best used car for your money! And 166k miles are not an issue if the car has been maintained.GOOD LUCK!

Hi,
My advice is "Dont go ahead with this buying idea." 166,000 miles is a lot. Considering it;s a Civic {Honda Family} you would say that they are reliable and prove to be very fuel efficient. True. But a majority of Honda Civics have been burned in or used very rashly. Civic 96-98s have been very harshly used and have been modified by teen drivers. Most of them will look appealing from the out but under the hood, the engine would be taking it's last breaths. So my advice is to look for a Honda Accord 99-02. They would be very nice for a new learner and they are durable in the long run.
Thanks,
Good luck with your new car.

civic would be a perfect starter car, but do you really want to buy a vehicle that has 166K miles on it. that's a lot of driving that car's been through. she could end up breaking down on you at any second. sure, honda's are known for going onto that many miles, but I would look into something with fewer miles.
