Should I buy a Harry Potter complete set in hardcover or paperback?

Im going to buy a box set of Harry Potter books but Im not sure if I should get the hardcover or paperback. The hardcover set is a little over $100 and the paperback set is a little under $50. Im planning on taking these books with me to school and I want them to be durable.

Hardcover.

Paperbacks very rarely last long. Even in your backpack they can get bent up out of shape very fast.

Its worth the 50 bucks if you want them to last a long time.

Each type has its ups and downs.

Paperbacks are cheaper, they don't take up as much space as hardbacks and they are lighter. Unfortunately they aren't as durable. You could fix that by covering you books in plastic.

Hardbacks are more expensive, they take up more shelve space and they are heavier. But they are more durable.

Hardbacks are meant for collectors who keep them for a long time in a nice and safe shelf.
Paperbacks are more for people who bring their books to school / friends house / where ever.

In my opinion, You should get the paper back and then buys some book covers for your books, but the choice is yours.

Hope this helps :D

Surprisingly, you'd probably want paperback. As long as you don't mistreat them, in a school environment they are liable to outlast hardcover. Hardcover books' binding will break and the actual book will end up in a state of disrepair.

I know this because I practically kept a library at school.

I'd say Hardback I think because they'll last so much longer! I have the first five books in paper back and the last two in hardback, now I wish I'd got them all in hardback as my paperback books look so tatty! But either way - the story is the same in both! I guess it just depends on how much you can afford, if you can afford the hardbacks I'd definately recommend those!

I've bought two sets of paperbacks. The paperbacks are cheaper, but you read them once and the binding gets creased. Read it twice and it almost falls apart.

If you get the paperbacks take very good care of them.
