Should I buy a 2001 Toyota Corolla w/ 120K mileage at $4,000?

I'm hearing from left to right that high mileage and good maintenance is not a bad thing but I'm really concerned about this investment. An '01 model with 80 or 90K at the outset is pretty good but it may mean the car sat unused for some time. I want to use the car for another 5-6 years. If my mechanic gives a green light, I think it's a bargain. What do you think?
