should I buy a 1991 honda civic dx?

ok am 17 and want to buy a car on my own, should i get a 1991 honda civic dx 4door 5 speed manuel. the price on it is $1600 flat it is in mint condition. so should i purchase this car, and if i should what performance parts can i put, i would really like to modify it.

so if you guys could help i would really appreciate it
