Should I be concerned about Tramadol?

You guys aren't going to believe this but my doc just gave me a script for 20 Tramadol pills to help with sexual stamina. The more I read about them the more I cant believe he gave them to me so flippantly.

Since my vasectomy I have had a hard time lasting as long as when I used to wear a condom. My wife and I hate condoms and they aren't really an option now. I told the doc this and he wrote me a script like giving out candy.

Should I be concerned about these pills?

Tramadol dependance/addiction does not happen after 20 pills, it takes months to years of use to become a problem. And for some people it never happens. I've been on Tramadol for 8 1/2 years and can stop and start at any time with no problems. With medications it really depenRAB on the individual. Once again though you have to be careful with Tramadol and only take it as directed, taking more than directed can cause seizures.

treatment centers are full of ultram addicts now--it is very addictive and the withdrawal is horrible. i had 6 grand mal seizures during a 9 year addiction. this is a very dangerous drug--people have had seizures at the regular prescribed doses. it also raises serotonin levels so you shouldn't take it with an anti-depressant (ssri). they are MANY better choices for sexual problems!! i think i'd find another dr. asap!

In my experience, Tramadol can be addictive and for me it has the worst withdrawal symptoms of any pain killer I have taken. It gives me chills, sweats, bizarre dreams, inability to stay awake and severe depression. All this seems to kick in about 2 days after I stop taking it. Granted, I always took more than was prescribed but still not that much compared to what some people take. It is touted as a non-addictive pain killer but that is simply not true. I would suggest staying as far away from it as possible. And I have to add, I have never heard of it used for sexual dysfunction. Interesting choice of drug by your doctor. Were you able to find any info that suggests it would help for your particular problem?
