If he asked you to play when the two of you were still together, then it is probably a good idea to either wait for him to say something or to assume that he won't ask.
If he promised *after* the two of you split up, then you could remind him... Games by nature are frivolous, he could have forgotten and telling him will send the message that you're interesting in playing the game with him.
