friend of mine was arrested almost a month ago for assault. after his preliminary hearing, he was released to house arrest. He went in to court today for what he thought was a plea hearing, but he was just given an indictment and out back in jail. His lawyer wasn't;'t there. He was told he could see the judge tomorrow for bail...ugh. I don't know what is going on! should his lawyer have been there? what can he do if the lawyer won't return phone calls? (lawyer is public defender)
