Totally honest answer: THEY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO BAIL US OUT. Germany is stuck in its worst recession since WWII and exports are plunging. How can we honestly expect Germany to bail GM out, granted GM has a germany based division, Opal, it should not be their resposibility to bail us out of our mistakes. Over the past month, rumors of mass layoffs and plant closures have been swirling in the German media. Union leaders are stumbling for a quick decision on the bailout. But Chancellor Angela Merkel's government wants guarantees that any cash that it doles out will not flow back to GM's embattled operations in the U.S., or go down the drain if GM goes bust. Totally honest statement: GERMANY IS IN THE SAME BOAT AS US. BUT THEIRS IS SINKING MUCH FASTER. They need to save their own economy before they even think about trying to help us save ours. TO EACH HIS OWN.
