...to their squad.? I know that all you need to play for a country is citizenship. But a lot of countries are taking advantage of that and add players to their squad from other countries to make them better. These players are in no way from their country. They were not born there and did not grow up there.
Examples:
Qatar
Portugal: Pepe, Deco
Spain: Senna
Turkey: Aurelio
The list could just go on. These players are only on the squad as they are not good enough to play for brazil and were given citizenship only for the purpose to play football for that particular country. I think that is very unfair towards the countries that compete fairly. If everyone started doing that then we would not have a fair competition anymore at all. Turkey will field Aurelio tomorrow for instance. He is in no way turkish. He was not born there and did not grow up there. He first came there to play fooball at age 25 or so and only plays for them as he is not good enough to play for Brazil.
