Should all "income" and "racial" questions be removed from the U.S. Census?

The primary goal of the US Census is to enumerate the population. So why does the government find it necessary to ask people so many INTRUSIVE questions like: "what is your racial/ethnic background?" I know a girl who is of mixed race and once had a hard time answering these questions. Interestingly enough, a half black/half white person who was born in 1950 would mostly likely check the "Black/African-American box" (the multiracial category only appeared starting in the 2000 Census so before then you could only select one racial category). However, a kid that was born in 1995 who is half black/half white would mostly likely check the "multiracial box." That shows you how difficult it is to come to a consensus on how people identify themselves racially. I really don't like the government intruding into my personal life. It's none of their business how much money I make or what my skin color looks like. I am NOT a fan of big nosy governments and I support the removal of all intrusive questions on the US Census. Do you think the Census should only ask about the number of people that live in a household (its original intentions)? Or do you think it should be left the way it is now? Your thoughts?
