Should a person sue a newspaper if they print something wrong?

I saw a newspaper in which they printed out a wrong address stating it was the address of some bad guys who had drugs and torute chambers etc. But the address was wrongly printed, the house if the bad guys was IN FRONT of the published address, and since there was a shooting and damages to the house (of the good people who had nothing to with the whole thing) the reporters wrote that THATwas the house of the bad guys. It was published for like 3 days until they "fixed" it, but never apologized or said anything.
Should they sue????
 
You could sue but think about the money wasted on the case and if the newspaper is willing to make up for the mistake.
 
No they shouldn't sue. The way newspapers make corrections like that is with their corrections box, which you said they did. Journalism is tough and until you have done it, these people would understand that the pressure to get the information to the public as soon as possible is by the demand of the public. Since nobody is perfect and wrong information is given to the reporters, what are they suppose to do? Is an apology really necessary? I don't think it is, but if that would make these people feel better, then they should say something to the editor.
 
If you complain to the editor there is a good chance they will print a retraction or an apology. It may be tiny and several pages in however.
