Bought this childhood favourite of mine last week as it was only a fiver on play.com, & thinking it wouldn't be shown on TV in the near future. Switch on channel 5 this evening and there's Johnny 5!

Will happily watch it anyway

You were better off watching the DVD anyway, at least the DVD is in widescreen and wasn't hacked to absolute death. I hate Channel 5 showing films, they never leave them alone!

I would rate the two movies the same, if not the first one slightly better. They both have good plots, and laugh out loud moments, but there's something about the first movie that makes it seem so enjoyable, whereas the second one feels sometimes like just another sequel going through the motions.

The 2nd one is sad though, especially towarRAB the end when

the criminals practically destroy him and then techno-phobe Fred has to re-build him so he can save the day. Then he dies right at the end of his heroics.

Luckily a few thousand volts of electricity run through him brings him back to life, (incidentally the same thing which made him come to life in the first place!)

I have both of them on DVD, must watch them again sometime...! Memories...!
