i wsh i was dead

I am a 64 y.o., female, well past menepause. For a couple days now, I have been experiencing small, suden flashes of heat in a very localized area: lower left quadrant from the front. Seems to have no provocation. Has always happened while sitting at the computer. The 'flash' sometimes goes down the front, sometimes down the side and occasionally straight down internally. Each extends approximately 3-4 inches in length and lasts only a few seconds. There is no external heat nor is there any point tenderness in the area.
This is not causing any pain, but is very uncomfortable. I am only concerned that it may be an indication of some underlying condition that would need treatment.
Any ideas?
