This week saw the annual Shizuoka Hobby Show, a popular event for fans of Japanese entertainment in which most of the big merchandise announcements for the year ahead are made. Since there's been a variety of interesting stuff shown, as usual, I thought it might be fun to have a thread here. Ngee Khiong has done a great job of collaborating most of the relavent info and images.
As usual for me, most of my interest was on the Bandai announcements. I was glad to see news on the planned models for the forthcoming 00 movie. All 4 of the announced kits are looking pretty sharp though I'm kind of dissapointed that this basically nixes anymore sidestory kits. They wasted that angle on doing Gundam variants, when the sidestories have any nuraber of awesome non-Gundam variants that deserve attention.
SD wise, it's nice to see that Sangokuden isn't just going to be re-releasing kits and is actually dipping into new designs. I'm very keen to buy the 'giant size' 16cm Ryuubi, complete with wiggling mouth plate to simulate talking http://www6.ocn.ne.jp/~midori-b/puranew/2010-49-sizuoka/2010-49-sizuoka-SD006.htm
Non Gundam, the Master Grade Figurise line seems here to stay. I was lukewarm when they did Son Goku but now we're getting characters like Kamen Rider W and Luffy it's getting pretty interesting. I'm hoping we'll see some steps up in manufactured flesh characters out of this.
