I have the trans with the S3/S4 switch, which didn't work and the S3 light comes on sporadically and flashes. The problems are the trans won't shift into overdrive until the engine reaches full operating temp. and once that corrects itself (2 miles) I have a 'delay' in shifts from 3 to 4. It had a pretty good leak, which I repaired and changed the fluid adding the highly recommended Dura-lube Platinum. It's only had 500 miles or so to work. Trans shop said that it was probably the lip seals and would charge only $1800 to rebuild it. I paid $1000 for the car so that won't be happening. I am trying to make it better without having to rebuild. I used the proper import trans fluid. Might the Duralube work over time? Any other suggestions? The delay in shift doesn't seem to have a slippage associated with it. Do any of the trans flush additives work? The type used very shortly before a fluid change. One I read about said run at idle for 5 minutes before change. I'm sure others are similar in application.
