My husband was asked by my cousin to be his best man and my husband said yes. It was only going to be a small court house wedding and a small reception, so we thought. Now we find out that there plan is to make me babysit their new born and have my husband dancing with her single sister "maid of honor" and sitting with her at the table when they eat diner.
My husband and I are both uncomfortable with this and we both feel as if it was more of an insult to me as I am not the brides favorite person.
My mother said it was BS and in poor taste to ask a married man to have diner with and dance with a single woman while his wife "me, the actual family member" gets to bring food from the house to the reception and be the nanny for their kid.
Would you be a little miffed?
No I do not think my husband will leave me, but this sister has never been seen in the 7 years that my cousin has been with this woman. No I do not think I outrank her sister, but I did show up to the hospital when she had her baby and I did baby sit for three months when she could not get daycare set up. My cousin and I are more like brother and sister, that is why they feel comfortable leaving the child with me. He has spent lots of time with me.
The fact of the matter is that my husband was not aware that he would have to dance with another woman and he is uncomfortable with it. They have not even told us of theri new wedding plans, i had to find out through the grooms mom. My husband will be calling tomorrow and telling them he will not stand up in their wedding. As for me.. I was suppoed to be cooking and I knew that when the wedding plans started then my husband was asked to stand up in the wedding. I had no idea they were going to ask him to stand up.
The babysiting came later. They said since I was going to be packing up food and cooking that I should take the baby too and just bring him when they are ready to do family pictures.
