ok so I'm in class today(college). We were assigned to do a research paper. I decided to do my research on HIV. Another student asked what my topic was so I told them about the idea and they immediately replied "Why?, Hiv is Nasty...You should do your research on Herpes"....I'm looking at them like...you say Hiv is nasty but you're suggesting I do Herpes...that makes no sense. I don't have Hiv but that comment really bothered me because it was 3 other people sitting near and you never know if any of those people were actually hiv positive and hearing someone say ohhh it's nasty would really make someone feel bad. It just amazes me how a lot of people can be so ignorant these days. I'm guessing the comment pissed me off because a lot of people seem to think HIV is contracted only through having sexual contact with random people and that's not always the case. A lot of people are born with it, some have spouses who cheated and transmitted the disease to them, it's just so many other ways to get hiv other than being loose in the streets. I'm STILL keeping my topic but I just wanted to ask, have you guys/girls ever had anyone refer to hiv as being nasty? is this what majority of people think, that hiv is nasty? The comment made, to me it just sounded so ignorant..it's like saying oh a person with cancer is nasty...That's just not right...we have to present this research paper, I'm venting now because I know once I start presenting and look at the person who made the comment, I might be tempted to say something about the comment they made...
