Sharp shooting pain/twinges in chest? 10 points?

I'm 18 and for the past couple of months i've been getting sharp shooting pain in left side of my chest.
At times it feel like something heavy is there and others it sharp shooting pain and when i breath in the pain gets worse. For the past two days i've had on off sharp little twinges.

Just to add i am a smoker, but not a heavy smoker.
Is this worth going to the doctors about or could it just be because i smoke?
Other than that i'm a healthy person
 
I had similar symptoms about 3 years ago turns out it was severe anxiety. The nerves can play tricks on you. I thought I was having heart problems. But don't take my word, go see a doc to make sure you are okay, ave them run the EKG machine to check your heart.
