Sharp pulling/pinching in upper left chest/undarm when I yawn

I've recently noticed that when I yawn, I feel a sharp pulling/pinching (what I used to call a pinched nerve) in my upper left chest near my armpit. I do exercise using weight machines, but not as regularly as I should. I typically lift only 24 lbs for arms and chest. I noticed the pain/sensation about two weeks ago. Then this morning I was aware that it was more pronounced. When I take a deep breath, I feel the pain in that area of my chest, but toward my left armpit. I also poked at the muscle just in from my underarm, above and to the left of my left breast. I got a strange sensation, not pain, but a weird "numb" feeling. Very hard to describe. I am concerned about what it could be.

Thank you.

It most likely is a pulled or strain muscle. You need to rest this muscle, which means you can not be lifting weights. I can say this because my husband lifts weights and when he hurts himself by pulling a muscle, his belief is that you work through the pain. This always ends up getting him into trouble. Use some advil or tylenol or aleve, whatever you feel comfortable with and give this muscle a couple of weeks to heal. When you begin lifting weights again do not lift so heavy. If you can not live with your self because you are not exercising, than do some extra lower extremities reps, but do not over due yourself.

Hope this helps.
