Sharp pain behind ribs, moving down side.?

for the last week or so I have noticed this sharp pain on my left side, right below the breast and behind the ribs when I breath in. It is happening at the moment but has now moved down to my abdomen far left from the belly button... any ideas what this is? it happens like three times a day or so.. and it's quite annoying/painful.. thanks.
