Sharp lower back pain on left side that has migrated to rear and thigh muscles?

Who Knows?

About a month ago at track try-outs I wasn't completely warm while running the 100m and after we were finished the lower left side of my back felt a little tight with a bit of a dull pain. All over Christmas break it had this small dull pain that would flare up if I sat in a certain position. Then, a few days ago at track practice, while sprinting my back just began burning in pain-it felt like someone was stabbing me whenever I moved it. I went to the doctor and she said the muscle was most likely just inflamed and she prescribed some anti-inflammatory's which seemed to work fairly well. However, once I was done with them, the pain slowly started coming back but now it seems to have radiated into my buttock as a tightening sensation when I say sitting or immobile for periods at a time. Also when I sit, my left thigh begins to get this dull pain and it feels like its slowly heating up from the inside and it only goes away when I get up and walk around. It wouldn't bother me too much except this all began to happen after I had finished the prescribed anti-inflammatory's. Any ideas as to what it could be other than an inflamed muscle in my lower back?
