Sharp Ankle Pain that is come and go?

I have this sharp pain on the inside part of my left foot. It feels like a needle goes through and out quickly. The pain will come after activeness then goes away then comes back once I am active. It isn't swelling or bruising. When the pain is apparent I limp. I tried to put a brace on my anke which helps minimally. The pain is bellow my ankle and causes much pain. Can someone give me some what of a diagnosis?
