We are trying to set a family budget system that we can stick to without much additional time. We know how to set up our budget, but the tricky part is sticking to it, mainly for the miscellaneous items which are not fixed (groceries, trips to Target, Home Depot, etc....). We have control over our fixed expenses (mortgage, auto, insurance, phone, credit cards, etc...). But each month we are amazed at how much we spend on "other". We use our debit cards for everything and have considered maybe the cash system for certain items like groceries, entertainment, ect. Any ideas or suggestions based on your experience of what works and doesn't.
fyi...we have two littles one in the house so our time is limited and really dont want to use an online system or Quicken or something that requires alot of extra time inputing, categorizing, etc..
