Shaft in danger...?

Animation Production company Shaft might be in trouble.

The most recent episode of Bakemonogatari included this:

Most of the episode is "removed due to certain circumstances"

Instead, you can only hear the voices of the episode. So, the animation was mostly unfinished.

It has also been indicated that Shaft hasn't had many animators, hinting the fact that there may have been some poeple there who lost their jobs.

On the Shaft website, though, they actually have have an ad that they "urgently need animators".

Could this be a downfall of an animation company in the near future? In fact, why did it have to be Shaft?

I think the problem with the most recent Bakemonogatari isn't a sign that the studio is having a major downfall, but rather the fact that the company has so many titles to work on (along with Bakemonogatari, they're also working on the latest season of Sayonaro, Zetsubou Sensei and the Negima OAV's) and so few animators to work on the projects.

As proof, I can tell you that a similar incident took place when the first season of Hidamari Sketch aired in Japan (with one episode being "incomplete" when it aired on regular TV).

That would be episode 10 of the original series (aka the one where the girls went to the bath house).

Basically, when it came to the production for that episode, it wasn't finished on time, and as a result, the original aired version of that episode felt more like a radio drama than an actual episode. However, the episode was completed in time for when it aired via BS-i (or as it is known today, BS-TBS).

^ Well, we can dig it!!

This much is true, adding to the fact that they're also currently in the process of doing an animated adaptation of Dance in the Vampire Bund as well.

Nice. You guys couldn't help it, could you?

However, I also noticed Gonzo's money troubles and Kyoto's Haruhi-ism troubles (also known as Endless Eight-gate)...

There's a difference between money troubles and being delisted from the stock market.

Kyoani's not in financial trouble, though. K-On makes enough money for the year.
