I am still a few years away from starting a family, but I have been researching sex selection and am very interested in using it. I am one of those people that have a very strong opinion about the sex of my baby (I only want 1-2 kids).
I know people feel strongly against it, and I understand why. There are religious reasons, people wanting to let nature run its course, and of course the fear of an unequal balance of males/females in the population, but if less than 1000 babies have been born in the US with this technique, whats the harm in having it done? I'm sure if it became a problem, there would be restrictions.
I don't think its any more wrong than using IUI or In-vitro fertilization. All it is, is the parents taking control over their own fertility. If people let nature run its course, there would be a lot more childless couples out there. I believe fertility treatments are acceptable, even though they run risks of overpopulation.
What do you think?
Is it right or wrong?
