My girlfriend and I are just curious exactly why it is recommended that we do not have intercourse 24 to 48 hours prior to a pap smear. I understand that her cells could be providing false results for the test, but what I am curious about is exactly how and what could cause her cells to change.
Would it be the possible transfer of fluids, friction, or the expansion of her vaginal walls?
