Hello, I am writing here in hopes of finding any input or advice for my boyfriend, 4 nights ago he started having severe chills, shakes, and vomiting with a 102 degree fever that rose and fell from about 9pm to 4am, when the vomiting got so bad he couldn't breathe between dry heaves, so we went to the emergency room. Well of course they pumped him full of saline (i think thats what its called) to rehydrate him, and ran blood, urine, and x-ray tests, and said that they found nothing except a high white blood cell count so it was probably some quick virus that should clear up. They monitored him until about 10am and then sent him home with two anti-nausea medications, reglan, and ondansetron. Well his fever went away that day, but his nausea continued, despite the medication, and for the last two days he has been in bed unable to eat hardly anything during the day and complaining of shortness of breath at night, and still vomiting, although not as severe. He has also developed diarrhea in the process now, and just says he feels overall like crap and has bad stomach pains right around his gut area. Its saturday night now, and we were going to wait until Monday to go back to the doctor since it is hard to find anywhere on the weekends except the ER, and we are afraid that if we go back there tonight or tomorrow they will just do the same thing they did the first time. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts? He is only 22 years old and in general good health, rarely ever even has a cold. Also, we live together and I have not caught anything from him or had any symptoms so i thought that was odd. Anyway thanks for your input.
