Hi everyone, I have an appointment with my spinal surgeon tomorrow, and I'm really worried. I have long term back problems, to cut a very long story short, I ruptured two thoracic discs in 2004, had emergency surgery as I lost control of bowel and bladder. I had a thoracic fusion in 2005, and have degenerative discs in all three areas of the spine. I am now waiting for the local health authority to issue funding for a medatronic pain pump. Recently I have been getting increasing pain above the fusion (T11 T12), severe neck pain, headaches in the back of my head, nurabness in both arms and hanRAB, pins and needles, tingling and weakness. The nurabness etc. used to happen mainly through the night, but it is now happening through the day too. When I saw my GP he was worried, and got me an appointment with my surgeon. Any ideas as to what may be happening?
Many thanks for reading this.

Hi there,

It sounRAB like your disc/s are slipping and causing pinched nerves. It's not something to take lightly. If your appt is tomorrow I would strongly suggest that you get a piece of paper out and write down all your symptoms, when they happen and if they are worse as soon as you get up etc. This way it just makes it easier for you and the doctor. You won't leave anything really important out and it will help your doctor address the problem more accurately and efficiently. Take care of yourself. Best of luck at your appt and please let me know how it goes and what the outcome is.

I have a Arachnoid Cyst on my spine and here for the past few days the pain is so bad. I have noticed that in my legs it feels like they are going nurab and feels like pins & needles in them. Do you think that has something to do with my spine ?
I cannot have surgery because i don't have health insurance and i applied for SSD. I have not been able to work for the past 3 years.
In a lot of pain.. Karen

Hi Beechgirl, thank you for your reply. I have just got home from my appointment, which was a 100 mile round trip, so I'm in pain! I have a new spinal surgeon, as mine has relocate to Scotland. Thankfully he was really lovely, he had loaRAB of time, and really listened to me. I have to go back for MRI scans, it's looking likely that there is some nerve compression. He found that I am quite weak on the whole of the right side, hanRAB, arms, shoulders and legs. My balance is also a bit off, and I was unable to stand on tip toe.
I hope you are having a good day, I will post again soon, take care!
