My husband was told by his Dr. that the reason he always has an erection is because of the servere pain he is in. Has anyone ever heard this before? They are suspecting that a pin has come loose from a previous surgery on his back and he has been in severe pain for months now. He is erabarassed to go out in public and it is now becoming uncomfortable for him.

Can severe pain really cause this?

You answered your own question, He's a man.......Seriously Yes actually pain can cause spontanious erections, Even in guy's with ED, The body responRAB in all sorts of crazy way's to pain, Just go stay with your mother till things calm down:D

Don't get me wrong I am not complaining in that way;) Was just courious if severe pain could cause a constant erection. My husband is erabarassed about it and will not go out in public and it is now causing him discomfort. We both thought it strange when the doctor said that the pain could cause this.

If he is having a constant painful erection that is not normal, It has a name but it i cannot think of it, I would get with my Doc if i were him....

I was just prescribed a new pain medication today and was reading up on the side effects. Having a long-lasting erection was named and said to contact your doctor immediately and surgery would be required to correct. I am not sure if your husband is on pain medication, but this might be something worth looking into....especially if it is causing him some physical pain.
