Severe Mood Swings after coming off Effexor?

I'm 19 and just came off Effexor about a week ago. I had been on it for a year. I started off taking 37.5 mg a day, then up to 75 mg, and then back down to 37.5 for a while. Then in the final 2-3 weeks of taking Effexor, it was only 37.5 mg every other day. I have been having extreme mood swings the past 4 or 5 days (similar to the ones I had BEFORE Effexor, only worse and more frequent). I feel completely helpless at the moment and it doesn't help when the thought, "I'll never be a normal person without medication" pops into my head.
"Normal" is the only way I know how to describe the way I felt while taking Effexor.
It's completely different now though. My family complains that I'm always grouchy (something way out of character for me) and my boyfriend constantly calls me a crybaby and says I should learn how to control my emotions. He sometimes even calls me "psycho."
It's just so stressful and when people get mad at me for being in a bad mood, it only makes me feel worse. Is it possible to regain that "normal" feeling without the aid of medicine? Is this just a withdrawal symptom that will go away on its own or am I automatically back to my old self now that I've stopped taking the Effexor? I just want to be happy again. I can't take Effexor anymore though because the weight gain. 50 lbs in a year and my doctor thinks the Effexor is causing me to feel hungrier than usual. Has anyone else on here ever taken Effexor?
