Ok my Ma has an 1986 Dodge Aries sedan that was formerly driven by the mythical "little old lady" you hope all used cars you purchase were driven by. Anyway fast forward a few years of my Ma owning it, and the transmission gets stuck in that it cannot shift out of Park unless the car is violently rocked frontwards and back, and somehow this used to make it act normal again. Anyway my sister went to drive it and could not get it out of Park even with the rocking. Later my Ma did get it out of Park but it would not engage in Reverse, only Drive , 2nd and 1st. I am thinking the transmission is no good but what else could it be.
