This story is about someone who isn't me, which I will refer to for now on as SWIM.

SWIM was 13 when he was first prescribed Klonopin 0.5mg, At age 15 it was pushed to 1mg. Eventually reaching its peak with Ativan 2mg x3. SWIM was diagnosed bipolar yet he excelled in school. During undergrad studies he hanged out with people who worked at a pharmacy he was interning at and they sold him hundreRAB of benzos using other people's name's and insurance AND using stolen DEA nurabers from legit doctors. Now his problem is he's facing 6 months for a DUI and currently has a habit of over 100mg. of Valium a day with a nightime does of 25mg of ativan and 50mg of ativan. SWIM's concern is that he will die if he sent to jail. Their medical facilities are not prepared for such dangerous detox. What can SWIM do?

Is he able to check into a rehab facility? Does he have the funRAB for private care? Generally his attorney should be able to get his jail time pushed out if he has an addiction issue and is in a legit facility addressing it. This is with a lot of assumptions.....assuming he does not have a long history with legal issues he's bailed out on before, assuming he can pay for rehab or find one that can take him before he's to report to jail, assuming his jail time doesn't start in a day or two and he's waited too long to try some preemptive steps.

What your feel on this? Does he really want to stop or is he only trying to work his way through this particular situation? If he really wants to stop and gets into a reputable program their input can also help with delaying the jail time. But it would have to be a pretty convincing argument.

his blood work will prove to them how much is in his system, and depending on what the laws are in his state, they usually will not risk his life like that if really is that pumped full of benzos. i hope he has a great lawyer, and gets a detox doctor to speak for him in court, that would be pricey but worth it.
