Sever abdominal and back pain. Please HELP!

Oi! Oi!

For a little over a year now, about every 2 weeks or so, I get this very sharp, stabbing pain that either starts in my stomach and radiates to my back, or vice versa. I have had an ultrasound to rule out my gallbladder, kidneys and other organs. I have has an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. All came back normal.

Usually the "attacks" only last about 2 hours, but today was different. The pain started at 9am and by 2pm, I could barely see straight and I was vomiting. I immediately called the doctor and went in. While I was waiting to see him, I vomited again. But by the time he finished examining me and we discussed everything, the pain was going away and was gone completely an hour later. He ran a bunch of test results which all came back normal, as well as a urinalysis.

His theories included: Spastic bowel, IBS, fibromyalgia. He wants me to go in for a CT scan to rule out anything else possible.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong??? The doctor even admitted it was a mystery and that if they dont find anything to treat, he doesnt really know what we can do to prevent this pain from returning over and over again. Please, somebody tell me what to tell my doctor to do~!

TraciRose,

This might be a long shot, but I know how it is when you are desperately searching. I went through much the same situation and it finally turned out to be endometriosis.

I had to go through all the same diagnosis's first, the GI system, all the organs, the IBS's...on and on.

Endometriosis can create pain anytime of the month, but usually is worse during your period. The pain can migrate from the site it attaches to up the back down the legs, and around the sides. It can be from mild to debilitatinly painful. It does not show up on any scan, MRI, CTscan, ultrasound, sonogram, nothing.

May I ask how old are you? 6-10 percent of women get some form of it, many never noticing, others living in severe pain (like me).

The only way to properly diagnose endo is by use of laproscopy, a camera inserted into your belly through a little incision.
I wish you all the luck
