Seth MacFarlane - Life of Larry or Steve & Larry?

I was just watching on YouTube the early work of Seth MacFarlane that set the stage for Family Guy -- 1995's Life of Larry and 1997's Cartoon Network pilot Steve & Larry.

My question is, for those of you who have seen both -- which is your favorite piece of pre-Family Guy SM work?

I'd say Steve & Larry that was on CN in 97. It's more crazy-kiddish than adultish (like Life of Larry), but S&L was really entertaining and it's a shame CN never went through with it. Then again, if they had gone through with it, we may never have seen Family Guy.

Steve & Larry would've made a hilarious show. Most of the had a FG-esque feel. There was even a Star Wars reference.

Steve: Listen to me, if you don't get me out of here I'll be put to sleep. Are listening? Do you understand me? You will be indirectly responsible for the resulting euthanasia.
Larry[Mistaking "euthanasia" for "youth in Asia]: Oh boy they got enough kids as it is.

Larry: How do you feel Steve?
Steve: Like Agamenon after the Fury Of Clytemnestra.
Larry: Who?
Steve: It's a tragedy.
Larry: Oh. ***BRIEF PAUSE*** Is everybody alright?

Larry and Steve was one of my all-time favorite What a Cartoon! Show shorts, and I would've loved to see more. The dialog was sharply written, and yet has enough "zany cartoon" action to be eye candy for the little kids who may not have gotten all the wordplay. It was a cartoon that played to multiple age levels.

My favorite moment in the cartoon is probably Steve's opening monologue: "I'm a dog, in case you're... well... STUPID." That and Steve's half of the car running through some old couple's house and the old man says "Well as long as he doesn't run over the chickens." And then a second later Steve's car plows through the chicken cages. :D

Funny how the pilot also has a Quagmire voice in S&L.

I never bothered to set down and watch it, or any of the What A Cartoon Shows. (The WACS! theme had to be the most irritating song ever. >

I think the funniest line for me in the short was how he mentioned he stayed in Kindergarden for 15 years because his foot was stuck in the radiator.:D

Life with Larry is good as well. Alot of the jokes in Season 1 of Family Guy were taken from here.

I wonder how things would have went if CN picked up Larry and Steve...
