was replaced last yr ? When the mechanic replaced my Cat Converter last year, he said he was able to use the previous o2 sensor without replacing it- they usually have to replace it. But he said I may need to replace it in the future. Now my service engine light has been on for over 6 months saying "catalytic system".. The Intake manifold was also cracked, but they attempted to seal that. What could be the issue?

Actually you are probably correct, but keep in mind (Iam presuming you have a ford with a plastic intake) this car has more than 1 O2 sensor, possibly more than 2 even. yep, depending on the model it can have up to 3! (great huh)

So, they glued the manifold eh? well they saved you 1200 bucks, for now. That is not a permanent repair mind you. that is called a fix.
That's your classic example of the difference between fixing something and repairing it. Justified only if you cant afford getting burned for such an expensive manifold at the moment. If they permatexed it, you might actually get more than a year out of it.

Anyway, the car should reveal which sensor it is by the fault code. If you are on a shoestring budget, you can put one in from a wrecking yard but it is a dice roll
