I'm a server and we are supposed to tip out based on the tips we make. We tip out a certain percentage of our tips to the bussers , bartender, etc. Sometimes our sales come up really high, but at the end of the night we do not end up with a lot of tips!! So, the bartender or busser sees we have high sales and expect a big tip from us, but we are supposed to tip off our actual tips, not our sales. I guess it was brought up to the manager that I only gave someone a certain tip, but that my sales were high, that manager then questioned me if i tipped out right,. How far can a manager take this? I mean that was what i made that night, they don't have proof of what i really made. Can i get in trouble because of this? What's the rule about how far managers can get involved when it comes to tipping out issues in the restaurant?? tHANKS!
