Seriously Stuck flashing a Sprint phone

Ok I flashed my mom's old sprint phone to a cricket. she was stuck on keeping it. I have t flashed can *228 and hear cricke. My problem is the esn this phones esn is 8 digits and when i call cricket they say it should be longer. I have no idea what to do next. if this was a verizon i would have been done already... I'm a Noob with Sprints and yes this is my first one. I did the research and can't find a solution so please HELP!!!
