Serious political debate?

Why is it, whenever I try to have a serious political debate with a conservative I have to stop in the middle of it? I feel so bad for them, it's like beating up on a toddler, they just can't defend themselves.
Of course there is a question. Look boy, look!

Judging from the questions I have seen you ask, you are not interested in a serious debate.

Here's a question for all Obama supporters. Would you borrow $224,857 to get a job? With the stimulus bill passed by Congress and signed by our new President at a cost of $787 billion to create 3.5 million jobs, that is exactly what our government did.

Is this responsible governing or should we be concerned about this type of spending?

An assault on the republican party does not mean squat to me, would agree with it as I am an independent.
 
That brings up two very important questions. If you feel like you're beating up a toddler why do you do it? and Do you beat up on toddlers?
 
I doubt any serious conservative sees any point in wasting their time with you. You are probably judging their skills of defending their position based on their trying to get out of the room. But if its that important to you - fine you win, as long as you agree that its all in the Dem's hands now - cant blame the repubs any more.
 
If you are anything like the typical Liberal ,then you interrupt every 10 seconds and say "You are ranting","Lower your voice",Then you ask a question that is totally unrelated without answering what you were asked to begin with! Then you say "Oh Yeah, well what about George Bush Yeah what about Halliburton Yeah what about George Bush Yeah what about Cheney?" you are very funny trying to make us believe you know how to do anything but Math -Debate!

Instead of the self promotion, why don't you give us some of your Liberal/Socialist Wisdom, that way we could retort, or run away if we Independent thinkers can't cope?
 
If you think debate is berating someone until they agree with your point, I can see your frustration. From what I have seen most conservatives are polite and willing to debate the results of policies with liberals. After pointing out the previous failures of liberal policies more than once I find that the liberals begin with name calling and questioning the intelligence of the conservative. Not because the points raised by the conservative are wrong but because the liberal has nowhere else to go in their argument.

Here's hoping that you can have more fruitful debates in the future. It will require you to believe that intelligent people can have differences of opinion.

Is your typical debate as deep and serious as this question?

Actually, most leftists I talk with don't even have a good grasp of the basic facts of the issue, and babble meaninglessly when I talk about the Constitution.
