Series of complications with no source yet

I am a 25 yr old female facing unbearable problems like weakness, fatigue, joint pain, fluctuating weight gain and weight loss, terrible digestion issues, swelling of the stomach, bone ache and inability to manage daily activities(stand, walk, sit on the floor) for the past 7 years with the condition deteriorating gradually. I used to just eliminate raw food whenever I visited the restroom and constantly burped, felt full always etc. I was immensely tested for gastrointestinal problems(endoscopy, colonoscopy, gastric emptying etc) but nothing significant turned up. I was tested for celiac, crohn's and other gastro disorders/diseases but all turned out negative. I had taken some proton pumping pills, digestion enabling pills etc and relatively my bowel movements have been better now.

Throughout my blood count (Hgb), Calcium, MCV, HCT, MCH, TSH would always be a little lesser than acceptable levels. I was on Levothyroxine for a few months and my thyroid levels are normal now, but my symptoms remain. I have suddenly gained more than 50 pounds in 7 months. Very recently I was told that my Vitamin D in blood is really low (6, where the normal range is 25-75). I have been given Vitamin D supplements now. I don't feel any better and I have newly started facing this problem of excessive sweating without any reason. It seems too hard for me to do daily normal activities. Please help me out!

It is interesting how much a low vitamin D can contribute to a person feeling bad, and how common low levels of vitamin D are! You were likely given a prescription of 50,000 units vitamin D weekly for 8 weeks? It will take some time for your vitamin D levels to come up. Your doc may decide to retest your vitamin D level at the end of the 8 week prescription to see how you are doing.

Have you been tested for food allergies?

Are you still taking your thyroid medication?

You might not know the answer to this (who would really?!) but do you know how many biopsies were taken for Celiac disease? Most regular gastro docs take less than six, while docs who specialize in Celiac say 10 to 15 biopsy sites are needed to dx Celiac because the damage is so patchy. 95% of Americans with Celiac remain undiagnosed, due mainly to the stubbornness of American gastroenterologists.:p

Thank you very much for replying. You are right, I have been given 50,000 IU Vitamin D capsules for 8 weeks. I have not been tested for any food allergies, but I find it really hard to digest some food..especially vegetables and any leafy stuff. I have this constant burping which triggers off randomly, but I have found that this happens when I have something when I am full. I really do not know if all this is related to my digestion or if there is something else which I am totally unaware of...

I am still on thyroid medication. But haven't felt any better irrespective of my thyroid levels...but I have not had a single biopsy for Celiac disease or for any testing. I am quite surprised they did not do any biopsy at all...this is strange, would there be any reason why the gastroentrologists ignored the biopsy?

 I don't know why they didn't do biopsies when you had your upper endoscope done. I would think they would at least biopsy for H Pylori? Gastros love that, I've had 3 endoscopes and was biopsied for HP all three times despite the fact that I kept testing negative! :p

Do you have a bleeding problem? Maybe they were afraid you'd bleed too much?

I used to have these irregular periods and really heavy bleeding. So they just did a blood test for H Pylori which came negative. I also had some blood work done for Celiac, which came negative too. I guess they did not want to probe further after these results. Did you have persisting issues after your 1st biopsy coming negative? The last Endocrinologist I met said that she was doubting it is Cushing's Syndrome, but she ruled it out because I don't have any shaky or dizzy feeling. I am quite confused..been taking Vitamin D supplements and levothyroxine though I feel no better.
