I have read around that for some models it is needed to have a +9V feeder for serial cable.
Schematics for it are as follows:
-Female DB:
Leave 7 and 8 unwired. all other wires, must be connected to their corresponding numbers on male connector.
-Male DB:
All wires should be connected to their corresponding number from female DB (1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc...) EXCEPT 7 and 8, that should be shorted.
Power supply (+9v) should be connected as follows:
-Positive (+) should be connected to MALE DB, on pins 7 and 8 (the ones that are shorted)
-Ground (-) should be connected on pin 5 of MALE DB, without removing the wire from FEMALE to MALE DB.
